Deja Vu X 2!

Valley Medical Center Selected (Again) as a Top 10 “Best Place to Work in Healthcare” in the U.S.
RENTON, WA - Valley Medical Center (VMC) has once again earned a spot on Modern Healthcare magazine’s list of the top 100 “Best Places to Work in Healthcare,” ranking 10th out of the 100 companies. The public district hospital ranked 6th among large healthcare companies, and 10th overall. VMC is the only hospital selected from Washington State. This marks the third consecutive year that VMC has been named to the publication’s prestigious list of best places to work in the nation and the second year for ranking in the top 10.
“We take such pride in this recognition from Modern Healthcare,” said Rich Roodman, Valley Medical Center CEO. “There are challenges that come with being a busy, large public hospital, and we believe that one of the best ways to ensure superior patient care is to take good care of our staff and clinicians. From janitorial services up through the busiest surgeon, we make an effort to listen, and to engage everyone who becomes a part of the Valley Family to ensure their on-the-job satisfaction. And you know what? It’s working!”
To be considered for the list, VMC submitted a comprehensive company profile. Then Modern Healthcare randomly selected VMC employees to send confidential email surveys on eight topics including Leadership & Planning; Corporate Culture & Communications; Your Role at the Organization; Your Work Environment; Your Relationship with your Immediate Supervisor; Training & Development; Pay & Benefits; and Miscellaneous Policies & Benefits. A minimum 40 percent response rate was required to be considered for the list.
“It’s challenging to get employees to respond to in-house surveys, much less surveys arriving unannounced in their email inboxes from outside companies,” said Barbara Mitchell, Senior Vice President, HR and Marketing at VMC. “Because the survey is random, we had no way of knowing who was contacted and therefore, had no real way to urge participation. We are thrilled and thankful that the folks here at Valley cared enough to share their opinion. Participation is one of the qualities that make Valley such a great place to work.”
The list of companies was announced on September 3rd 2010. The specific rankings of the “Best Places to Work in Healthcare” were announced at a gala awards ceremony on October 18 in Dallas.
