RENTON, WA - Valley Medical Center (VMC) has been recognized by the Puget Sound Business Journal (PSBJ) as one of “Washington’s Best Workplaces” for 2010.
VMC, listed as a top 10 company in the “Extra Large” category (500 or more local employees), was selected from the nearly 200 nominations submitted on behalf of companies with Washington state offices. This follows on the heels of being named one of “Washington’s 100 Best Companies to Work For” by Seattle Business, and Modern Healthcare’s national “Top Ten Best Places to Work in Healthcare.”
“Employee satisfaction is something we take very seriously and put many resources behind at VMC,” says Rich Roodman, CEO. “We understand that happy employees are a big contributor to patient satisfaction and each time we receive recognition as a best place to work, it reinforces our commitment.”
To find the best employers, PSBJ asked readers to nominate their own or other companies. Employees of the nearly 200 nominated companies answered surveys conducted by Quantum Workplaces, a recognized leader in workplace research. To reach the desired confidence level (95 percent with a +/- 5 percent margin of error), companies had to solicit employee participation based on percentages; VMC required a response rate of 15 percent to be eligible.
Survey questions were answered on a sliding scale from “Strongly disagree” to “Strongly agree,” and ranged from “I would like to be working at this organization one year from now,” to “The leaders of this organization demonstrate integrity.”
The 80 companies named to PSBJ’s “Washington’s Best Workplaces 2010” were honored August 12th at a special celebration at Safeco Field.
