Long-time Valley Medical Center (VMC) employee and Wellness Services Manager, Anne Grimes was honored by the Washington State Hospital Association (WSHA) during its 81st Annual Meeting earlier this month for her leadership in Safe Patient Handling, and her dedication to employee health and safety.
A statement from WSHA reads, “Since the implementation of the Safe Patient Handling rule in 2007, Anne Grimes has been a regional leader. Her role and participation in the Washington State Safe Patient Handling Steering Committee and her work in planning a successful statewide training has made a difference in reducing both employee and patient injuries. Anne’s innovative work in creating and running a successful patient lift team has been an inspiration to safety professionals throughout the nation.”
“We couldn't be more proud of Anne. She truly deserves this award,” said Paul Hayes, RN,Executive Vice President, Valley Medical Center. “Anne is one of the unsung heroes at Valley. She has worked here for more than 30 years in a number of capacities, and she has been instrumental in ensuring the on-the-job health and safety of our workforce and the safety of our patients. We are honored that she is a member our team.”
