Ambulatory Treatment Unit
Valley Medical Center's Ambulatory Treatment Unit (ATU) provides a broad range of outpatient services, including procedures for radiology, chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and IV therapy. VMC's 24-hour Chest Pain Unit is also located within the ATU.
The ATU serves as an observation station for emergency, pediatric, endoscopy, and postsurgical patients. The unit is designed for admissions of less than 24 hours, and patients' symptoms typically improve within 6 to 12 hours.
The ATU patient care staff provide a safe, comfortable environment for patients with acute medical conditions, such as abdominal pain, dehydration, asthma, minor trauma, and pain or nausea associated with some surgical procedures.
Cardiac patients requiring certain procedures, such as an angiogram, angioplasty, or heart catheterization, may receive their pre- and post-procedure care from our ATU patient care staff.
