Family Services offers counseling for new mothers suffering from post-partum depression, mood disorders, or other psychological problems. Class Name: Listening Mothers
Fee: Varies

Class Description:

Motherhood brings a wealth of challenges. Learn from others in a small-group setting, led by a skilled facilitator from Family Services. This 8-week program teaches you how to handle emotions, prepare for the responsibilities of parenting, and understand the effect of life experiences on raising a child. Sessions last 90 minutes and take place at various locations; mothers and babies up to 8 months old are welcome. For more information call 425.450.0332.


Class Name: Lymphedema Management
Fee: Varies

Class Description:

Complete lymphedema therapy is now available for upper or lower extremity swelling that doesn't go away. (Lymphedema is abnormal swelling caused by impaired drainage of the body's lymphatic system.) Specially trained physical therapists, certified by the Academy of Lymphatic Studies, provide this treatment. If you think this program may benefit you, discuss it with your healthcare provider or surgeon. Class Name: Spiritual Care Services
Instructor: Paul F. Buche, Sr., Coordinator for Spiritual Care

Class Description:

If you need someone for emotional or spiritual support during your stay at Valley Medical Center, a certified hospital chaplain is available. The chaplain assists in contacting the patient's own pastor, faith community, or spiritual support. The chaplain provides patients and families with skilled counsel during what may be a difficult time.

The chaplain is available weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm. If you with to speak with a chaplain tell your nurse or call 425.228.3440, ext. 5859. Should you need support at night or during the weekend, local on-call clergy are available.


Class Name: Wig Bank
Fee: 50

Class Description:

Hair loss is among the more difficult results of cancer treatment. Valley can help you locate a variety of wigs or other hair products to help ease this aspect of cancer therapy. To learn what's available and schedule an appointment, call 425.228.3440, ext. 5899.
