RotaCare Clinic
The RotaCare Clinic is a partnership between the hospital, Renton Rotary, and the Renton Technical College. One of only a handful of such programs in operation across the nation, the clinic treats for free families and individuals who lack health insurance. Since it opened in early 2004, the RotaCare Clinic has cared for over 400 patients. The Renton RotaCare Clinic is located at the Salvation Army Building/Food Bank on Tobin Avenue in Renton: it is open for walk-ins every Saturday from 9 to 11 am. A Bellevue RotaCare Clinic is located at the Hopelink Building/Food Bank, 148th Avenue Northeast and Main Street in Bellevue: it is for walk-ins on Saturdays from 9:30 to 11:30 am.

GoldenCare
GoldenCare at Valley Medical Center is a senior services program for people 62 years of age and older. For a one-time fee, members receive personal assistance with medical paperwork, close-in parking, reduced rates at The Fitness Center, a bimonthly newsletter, class discounts, and much more. Each fall, the hospital offers flu shots for its GoldenCare members and each spring, a Senior Health Fair is held to help educate seniors on a variety of health and wellness issues they may be interested in.

Valley also offers the services of a Medicare insurance advisor for free to help seniors evaluate and select Medicare options. This program is currently located on the third floor of the Medical Arts Center. Call 425.226.GOLD (4653) for information.

Trauma Nurses Talk Tough
Trauma Nurses Talk Tough teaches tough but effective messages about the consequences of risk-taking behavior and substance abuse. Valley Medical Center Emergency Services staff venture into local classrooms and community centers to share their powerful stories, with the hope of keeping their listeners out of the hospital. VMC has participated in this renowned national program since 2001; the seminar has been presented to many thousands of area residents. Get more information online or contact program leader Young Kim, RN, BSN, at 425.228.3440.

Bike Helmet Safety
Bike helmets remain one of the healthiest practices you can teach a child. Valley Medical Center provides helmets for $8—including a fitting and demonstration of how to wear them safely. All ages can receive a custom-fit bike helmet. The helmet wearer must be present to purchase the helmet and have it custom fit. Fittings take place at Children's Therapy, 3600 Lind Avenue Southwest, Suite 160 in Renton. Get more details online or call The Bike Helmet Hotline at 425.656.5577 or Children's Therapy, 425.656.4215.

The station will be manned by certified car seat technicians to assist you in fitting both child safety seats and booster seats. This new fitting station will help raise awareness and highlight the new child passenger safety law that went into effect on June 1, 2007. Emergency Services Safety Camp
The one day Safety Camp is a day-long learning event where kids are taught lessons on personal safety, water safety, and get personal tours of the Emergency Room to learn how people with injuries are treated. Local fire and police departments join the educational day to show K9 units, fire engines, and the importance of helmet and safety belt use.
