Safety Camp
Emergency Services Safety Camp
* The Safety Camp is on hiatus for 2010 *
Where can you get a chance to use a fire truck’s water hose, check out an emergency room, and learn how to protect your noggin’? If you’re between 7 and 10 years old, you can experience all of this at Valley Medical Center’s annual Emergency Services Safety Camp. Each year 80 lucky kids get the chance to meet firefighters, police officers, emergency room doctors and nurses, and they’ll learn how to be and keep themselves safe.
The one day Safety Camp is a day-long learning event where kids will be taught lessons on personal safety, water safety, and get personal tours of the Emergency Room to learn how people with injuries are treated. Local fire and police departments join the educational day to show K9 units, fire engines, and the importance of helmet and safety belt use.
Safety Camp is free to all participating children. Lunches are provided and all of the staff volunteer their time. Each child receives a t-shirt, water bottle, a certificate of a personally fitted bicycle helmet, and a backpack filled with numerous safety products.
