Pre-Authorization & Financial Assistance

Pre-Authorization & Financial Assistance

Making Financial Arrangements Prior to Your Services:

Some procedures may require you to obtain pre-authorization from your insurance company or to make other financial arrangements in advance.

Valley Medical Center and your physician’s office will make every effort to pre-authorize payment by your insurance company and/or assist you in finding other payment sources well in advance of your procedure, once a determination has been made to schedule your services.

If your procedure is scheduled for the next 48 hours and has not yet been authorized by your insurance—or you are uninsured—you will need to contact a Financial Advocate at VMC to request immediate assistance in financially securing your account.

Please choose from the following options:

  • If you will be receiving services by a physician in one of our clinic offices, please contact the specific clinic to make these arrangements prior to your visit. Click here to view a list of VMC clinics, clinic hours and a list of physicians at each clinic.

  • If you will be receiving services at Valley Medical Center's hospital, please contact a Financial Advocate at 425-228-3440 x 5599 to make arrangements in advance.

Financial Assistance

As a public district hospital, Valley Medical Center is committed to providing the best care possible to every patient, regardless of ability to pay. Uncompensated care regularly accounts for more than 10 percent of our annual operating revenue. To ensure we help as many people as possible, individuals are qualified based on financial documentation and demonstrated need. (VMC's charity program is limited to assistance with hospital facility bills.)

We recognize the significant financial burden medical expenses create for patients with limited or no healthcare coverage. We will offer uninsured patients a similar discount to the discount taken by our contracted insurance carriers.

Uninsured patients will be offered prompt pay discount options for their remaining balance. Insured patients who do not have 100% insurance coverage will be offered prompt pay discount options for the remaining balance after insurance payment. Please review our Uninsured & Prompt Pay Discount details.

Our Patient Financial Services department can also assist with setting up a payment plan.

  • Up to 9 month interest free payment arrangements; Please contact a Patient Financial Services Representative at 425.467.7186 or 1.888.400.5725 or 425.251.5178 option 4.

  • A long term payment plan through a banking partner. (Like any bank loan or credit card, the loan will carry interest. If you elect the bank loan, it’s important to make your payments on-time as late fees will apply.) For more information, please call Patient Financial Services at 425.467.7186 or 1.888.400.5725 or 425.251.5178 option 4.
