[Our new lobby and Surgery Center is now open!]

The Shape of Things to ComeNew Lobby Entrance - April 2007

Valley Medical Center is moving onward and upward, literally. As the hospital grows to meet the expanding healthcare needs of our region, major renovations continue to take shape as part of a $200 million capital master plan.

April 2007 marked the Grand Opening of the new Lobby Entrance and Surgery Center on the third floor of the campus.   This dramatic new lobby space actually covers the old exterior driveway to the hospital, creating a light-filled public area and a more convenient drop-off and pick-up driveway.  In the Fall of 2007, VMC will break ground on a seven-story Emergency Department tower, on the south end of campus, which will serve as the anchor to our capital investment.

Demonstration in new Surgery Suite

The Surgery Center incorporates leading-edge technology with larger, operating rooms (ORs) outfitted with integrated robotics, plus spacious recovery rooms. By Spring 2008, 17 OR's will be in full operation.  The new lobby entrance features a soaring, 22-foot-high glassed-in atrium with nine pyramid skylights overhead.  The new circular driveway outside allows easy access for patient drop-offs and pick-ups.

Emergency Services Tower RenderingThe Emergency Services Tower groundbreaking is scheduled for Fall 2007, with a completion date of Fall 2009.  The tower is the third phase of a $200 million capital master plan that will include renovations and additions to the medical center totaling 77% of its current square footage. The tower will include an expanded Emergency Department nearly three times the size of the current facility (equal to the size of a football field); a 30 room ICU (intensive care unit) on one entire floor; two levels of below grade parking which will double as community disaster facilities; and up to three additional patient bed floors.

Due to construction, parking may be restricted at times.  Additional spaces may be found in front of Valley Professional Center North, and on every floor of the parking garage. Valet parking will be located in front of the new entrance; valets can also summon the Courtesy Shuttle to transport patients to their vehicles. Valet hours are 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
