    Biography

    Peter Balousek, MD graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed his residency in neurosurgery and a fellowship in interventional neuroradiology at the University of California, where he was an assistant clinical professor of radiology.

    Dr. Balousek is one of the few neurosurgeons in Seattle with special training and expertise in general and endovascular neurosurgery and radiosurgery. His interests include treatment of cerebral aneurysms, AVMs, and cerebrovascular disease/stroke, as well as treatment of brain tumors by both open surgery and with VMC's BrainLab radiosurgery unit.

    Biography

    David A. Lundin, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine, where he graduated at the top of his class. He completed his internship and residency in Neurological Surgery at the UW and served as a Senior Registrar at the renowned Atkinson Morley's Hospital in London, England. He then completed a fellowship in spinal surgery at the UW with the departments of Orthopaedic and Neurological Surgery followed by a Chief Residency in Neurological Surgery. He served as Director of Complex and Minimally Invasive Spine at the Southern California Center for Neuroscience and Spine in Los Angeles before joining the WNI as the Neurosurgery Medical Director of the Spine Center in 2008. Dr. Lundin specializes in all types of complex and minimally invasive spinal surgery, including non-fusion techniques such as artificial disk replacement.

    Dr. Lundin has been widely published in numerous medical and neurology journals.

    Biography

    Ali Sultan-Qurraie, MD, is native to the Seattle area. He specializes in interventional neurology and treating strokes. He also has expertise in treating transient ischemic attack, cerebrovascular accident (CVA), carotid cavernous fistula (CCF), arteriovenous malformation (AVM) of the brain and spine, and intracranial arterial stenosis.

    Dr. Sultan attended the University of Washington for his undergraduate education and completed medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University. He returned to the Seattle to complete residency training in neurology, again at UW. He then completed a Cerebrovascular fellowship at Harborview/University of Washington, and moved on to become the Stroke director in Monterey county in California. Seeking to provide more complete care to his patients, he embarked on additional training in Neurocritical Care and Interventional Neurology at Medical College of Wisconsin and St. Vincent Medical Center in Ohio. After a long academic road he is happy to be at UW Medicine Valley Medical Center to care for patients suffering stroke-related injuries.
