Biography
Dr. Todd Johnston received his medical degree from Wake Forest University in 1995. He then completed an internship at Harvard's Cambridge Hospital and went on to complete a residency at the University of Alabama - Birmingham where he was Chief Resident in his final year. After completing a two year corneal transplant and refractive surgery fellowship at the Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California, he became the Chief of Ophthalmology and Refractive Surgery at the United States Air Force Academy for four years. At the Air Force Academy, Dr. Johnston treated over two thousand active duty patients with corrective laser eye surgery, including many cadets who went on to become pilots. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force this summer as a Lieutenant Colonel and joins the Valley Medical Center as a cornea and cataract specialist.

Dr. Varghese is the director of the thoracic surgery program at Harborview Medical Center and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

Teaching Interests: He is an associate program director of the cardiothoracic surgery residency at UW, and is dedicated to the education of medical students, residents and fellows. He is also a core faculty member of the Institute of Simulation and Interprofessional Studies (ISIS).
