Biography
Dr. Farjah is a thoracic surgeon and health services researcher. He has appointments at the University of Washington (UW) as Assistant Professor of Surgery and Associate Medical Director of the Surgical Outcomes Research Center (SORCE).

Dr. Farjah trained at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in cardiothoracic surgery and UW in general surgery. His research training involved a 3-year postdoctoral research fellowship sponsored by SORCE and funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute. During this time he also obtained a Master’s degree in Epidemiology at the UW School of Public Health.

Dr. Farjah has a strong interest in disease-based, multi-disciplinary management of lung and esophageal cancer, pleural mesothelioma, and any other malignancy that involves the chest and may be amenable to surgical intervention.

Research Interests
Dr. Farjah’s research interests include evaluating the relationship between lung cancer diagnostics and outcomes, and developing patient-centered quality metrics for thoracic surgery.

Dr. Friedman joined the Renton Pediatrics family in the summer of 1999. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and completed his residency in Pediatrics at Texas Children's Hospital and the Ben Taub General Hospital.
