Child Safety Seat Fitting Station

Valley Medical Center and Safe Kids of South King County host a new, free service for the fitting of child safety seats on the second Wednesday of each month at the VMC north garage.  This new car seat fitting station will help raise awareness and highlight the new child passenger safety law that went into effect on June 1, 2007.

Safety Seat Fitting Station Schedule

When: The second Wednesday of each month
Time: 5 - 6:30 p.m.
Where: The first floor of the north parking garage on the VMC campus
Cost: Fitting are FREE by certified car seat technician.  Donations are accepted.

“Motor vehicle crashes are the most frequent cause of injury death for Washington children 0-17 years old,” says Kathy Kruger, Executive Director of the Washington State Safety Restraint Coalition. “About 45 percent of the children who died were unrestrained by a child safety seat or seatbelt at the time of their death.”

“We all want to be heroes for our children,” said Dr. Bob Thompson, VMC’s Director of physician recruitment and new program development. “This is a simple way for parents to invest a little time to prevent unnecessary injuries to our children.”

Safe Kids of WashingtonThe station will be manned by certified car seat technicians.  Please bring your vehicle manual and your car seat manual with you to the inspection site.  Inspections are free, although donations are accepted. Technicians will also help in the fitting of booster seats.
