A diagnosis of cancer today comes with the certainty of dignity and compassion, and often with a strong probability of recovery. Thanks to contemporary medical treatments, not all cancers are life threatening. In fact, nearly half of the cancers treated today are cured through surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of treatments. Although there are more than 100 different types of cancer, they share one thing in common—the physical and emotional effects on the patients, their families, and friends.
Valley Medical Center is proud to offer the comprehensive services needed for quality cancer care right here on campus. We are committed to providing state-of-the-art treatments in a respectful manner. We work as a team, using all our resources to achieve the best possible outcomes.
The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer has approved Valley Medical Center's Cancer program as a Comprehensive Community Hospital Cancer program. This approval ensures that the oncology service, professionals, and structure exist within the hospital to provide optimal care to cancer patients. In addition, through an agreement with the Swedish Cancer Institute, we are able to access the most advanced technology in cancer treatment.
Cancer Treatment
Physicians specializing in medical oncology, radiation oncology, and surgical oncology as well as specially trained nurses and technicians work with cancer patients through all phases of treatment. A multidisciplinary Cancer Conference consisting of primary care physicians, radiologists, pathologists, oncologists, and other supportive specialists reviews every cancer case at the hospital and provides recommendations on patient care and treatments.
