Treatments for Vein Disorders
Treatment for Varicose Veins
Endovenous laser ablation: After locating the source vein with ultrasound, laser light is used to cauterize and seal the vein so that pressure is reduced. Only a local anesthetic is required. The procedure is usually completed in under an hour, and veins disappear in just two to three months.
Treatment for Spider Veins
Sclerotherapy: In a simple, in-office procedure, a very fine needle is used to inject a solution into the vein. The vein closes off and is eventually reabsorbed by the body, while blood is rerouted through another vein. In some instances, results are dramatic and immediate; but it usually takes weeks or months for full effect, and in many cases, repeat procedures will improve results. It is important to wear compression stockings during the recovery period.
Laser: Laser is used topically while cooling the skin to remove small spider veins.
