Robotic Total Knee Replacement Debuts at Valley

First hospital in US to Install the VELYS Robotic Surgical Solution

Valley has gained the distinction of being the first hospital in the U.S. to have installed the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution, an innovative, new tool for surgeons performing total knee replacement.

Bill Barrett, MD, Medical Director of Valley’s Joint Center, explains, “Over 20 years ago we started Washington’s first Joint Center right here at Valley with the goal of improving care for patients who need total joint replacement. This is an exciting next step in that journey to innovate care even further.” In fact, Dr. Barrett was so excited about the arrival of VELYS, watch the clip as he takes a little time out on delivery day to meet the driver and help unload the new “kneebot.”

VELYS is particularly advanced in its ability to help surgeons precisely plan surgery tailored to each patient’s unique anatomy.

“Valley and Proliance Orthopedic surgeons have a long and proud history of total joint replacement excellence. Over the years, our nationally recognized program has become a destination for many who seek total joint care. The new VELYS surgical robot is the natural evolution of our innovative program and represents precision, allowing the surgeon to ensure the best fit possible for each individual. We look forward to continuing to serve our community with state-of-the-art technology led by the expertise of our surgeons and staff.”
