What are we looking for in a Consult-Liaison Psychiatrist?

Great Personality and Team Player. Board Eligible/Board Certified in Psychiatry. Fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry preferred. Our goal is to find a hospital-based Psychiatrist provider with a desire to work in a collaborative, collegial, open environment.  

Our Valley Medical Team:

Team based model approach to patient-centered care. Consult closely with our Internal Medicine Hospitalist Team, Valley Family Medicine Team, Emergency Medicine Team, and Case Management teams to develop comprehensive plans of care. Excellent opportunity to also participate in hospital committees. This position is not working at a Psychiatric ward/unit. Work-life balance.  Daytime hours only, no evening/night call. Great opportunity for someone interested in operation-quality efficiency.

No call expectations. Team based model approach to patient-centered care.4-day work week. Full support staff – each Dermatologist will have a designated Medical Assistant. This is a clinical role – not cosmetic.

Our New Cancer Center:

Integration of all cancer care departments, including hematology and oncology, radiation oncology, the Breast Center, screening and genetics, rehabilitation services, and support services.

We currently have 5 Medical Oncologists, 2 Radiation Oncologists, 1 Gyn/Oncologist and 1 Physician Assistant.

Full support staff – RN Navigators assigned to each patient. Multidisciplinary conference rooms will bring together an entire care team. Financial coordinators.  Registered dieticians. Quick referrals will be made to the UW Medical Center and Seattle Care Alliance. On-site spa. A new Rehabilitation Center. A new Comprehensive Breast Center.

What are we looking for in an Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician?

Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority needed for specific practice. Our goal is to find an OB/GYN provider with a desire to work in a collaborative, collegial, open environment.  

Our Valley Women’s Healthcare Team:

Integration of all women’s health departments, including OB/GYN, OB Hospitalists, Midwifery team, Birth Center, Urogynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine. 4 Women’s Healthcare clinics within our network.

We currently have 12 OB/GYN Physicians, 7 OB Hospitalists, and 6 Advanced Care Practitioners.

Full support staff – each Physician will have a designated Medical Assistant. Ultrasound available at most clinics. Level 3 NICU. Modern and busy Birth Center, averaging 30-35 births per month. Clinic schedule is 4 days/week including one 24-hour call. Call is currently 5-6 days per month.Clinic consults, follow ups, general women's care, in office procedures, prenatal OB care, deliveries, high risk obstetrics with consultation from perinatology service. Quick referrals can be made to the UW Medical Center network.

Job Overview

UW Medicine Valley Medical Center is seeking a visionary physician to join the leadership team in managing a growing number of urgent care facilities. The Urgent Care Medical Director will demonstrate abilities to build sustainable, credible relationships across the urgent care organization. Individual responsible to Vice President, Chief Medical Director, Ambulatory Services.               

PRE-REQUISITES:

  • Current unrestricted medical license in the state of Washington
  • Meet the requirements of the Hospital Medical staff.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Urgent Care Physician along with leadership experience.   

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Possess a solid foundation, knowledge, and experience in the areas of urgent care issues. Serves as a spokesperson for urgent care and maintain relationships with primary care and other providers in the greater community.
  •  Works with Senior leadership to ensure adequate staffing, appropriate training and required resources.
  • The Urgent Care Medical Director ensures that the scope of services and level of care provided by doctors/advanced care practitioners under his or her purview, satisfy applicable laws, meet the expectations of the customers, and fulfills the goals and medical policies of Valley Medical Center.
  • Able to communicate and work effectively with the physical and emotional developments of all age groups.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills with the ability to lead the urgent care team to superior levels of service.
  • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate new current provider staff.
  • Progressive thinking for budget training and quality issues.
  • Possessing the personal charisma to motivate and inspire others into action and bringing a “can do” proactive approach to urgent care
  • Sensitivity to coordinate care for patients and families from a variety of ethnic, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds and with varied medical and developmental needs. 
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with members of the interdisciplinary team, including physicians and external health care professionals, to achieve desired clinical, service and financial outcomes, and effective conflict management skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to function in a setting with numerous interruptions.   
  • Experienced in use of electronic health record (EPIC)- preferred.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to type fluently and quickly; and write legibly, spell correctly, and use accepted grammar.

Physician support, engagement, education, and collaboration:

  • Provide education to physicians and other clinicians related to regulatory requirements, appropriate utilization of hospital services, and alternative level of care.
  • ​Provide education to physicians and other clinicians regarding the appropriate classification of admissions and create action plans to address compliance. 
  • Provide physician coaching and on-going education on appropriate clinical documentation improvement and care standards as may be appropriate.
  • Responsible for providing quality care to all patients.
  • Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patient and family rights as identified within the institution.
  • Supports and enhances excellent customer service and care.
  • Functions with an awareness of safety needs and assures the adherence of the medical staff with organizational and regulatory environmental safety standards. 

Additional duties as may be indicated:

  • Demonstrates commitment to participating in strategic initiatives of the organization.
  • Works collaboratively with dyad partner.
  • Supervise and direct all medical treatment activities and recommend changes to better utilize facilities, service and staff,
  • Ensure staff are up to date on changes in clinical, employee and business practices and policies.
  • Monitor budget and coordinate clinical activities within operations, billing, and financial management.
  • Implement clinical safety policies and practices.
  • Provides effective leadership and participation in clinic network process improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrates conformance to VMC policies and procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other health care team members, patients and families, hospital employees, and outside care providers.
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and takes action to limit or reduce risks.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and commitment to sound financial management and viability of the organization.
  • Participates in long and short term planning for VMCs clinics.
  • Participates in network quality improvement and utilization management.
  • Promotes a positive image of VMC and the clinics within both the hospital and the community at large.
  • Facilitates collaborative relationships with medical staff to ensure high quality delivery of care.
  • Practices effective communication and problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Rounds regularly with Clinic Medical Directors and Managers in their areas.
  • Participates in Clinic Medical Director and Clinic Manager meetings
  • Demonstrates self-responsibility, accountability for practice and professional development.
  • Provides a sense of leadership to the clinic’s medical staff.
  • Provides training, direction, and supervision of physicians and other practitioners in the VMC Network.
  • Assures high quality staff to support patient care and services to the clinic.
  • Completes additional responsibilities/projects when assigned by Administrator.

Valley Medical Center is a member of the UW Medicine system, the only sponsored GME residency program on campus, which is affiliated with our family medicine residency program. The residency is a member of the WWAMI Family Medicine Residency Network, a strong collaborative multistate group of family medicine residencies. Our mission is to train family physicians to be capable of practicing full-scope family medicine in a variety of clinical settings and geographic locations. Program curricular strengths include an emphasis on an evidence-based approach to teaching/learning, combined inpatient adult medicine/pediatrics training, focused obstetrics training, and our “Clinic First” model of continuity clinic scheduling.

The residency clinic uses the “Clinic First” approach in training residents by emphasizing the outpatient continuity clinic curriculum across all three years of training. Candidates with prior teaching or practice experience are preferred, however we encourage applications from individuals with a desire to teach.
