The Desimone Levee on the Green River failed and is under repair. The hospital is above the flood zone and currently in no danger of flooding. We evacuated our Time Square and Kent Station Clinics and our Lind Avenue locations. Several locations are experiencing staffing issues due to severe traffic impacts. Impacted patients are being contacted to reschedule appointments. Please be safe, do not drive or walk through standing water, and call 9-1-1 if you need emergency evacuation assistance.

Update on Eye Protection Requirement

7/28/2020
Author: Lauren Steele, Safety Officer

Can side protectors on prescription eyeglasses be an equivalent substitute for eye shields for our new eye protection requirement implemented on 6.24.2020? Although side protectors provide additional protection to prescription eyewear, the sizes and shapes of prescription lenses vary, providing inconsistent frontal protection from contaminants, which means exposures are still possible. Therefore, its critical for healthcare workers to utilize only options designed for eye protection.

Valley offers a wide range of effective eye protection options and SPD can provide the alternate options upon request:

  • TDI eye shields
  • Full face shields
  • Mask with eye shield attached
  • Over-the-glasses safety glasses
