On April 22 we had a pipe elbow failure in our Emergency Department (ED) causing a significant water leak. Crews are assessing the impact and we are in the process of water abatement. Our ED is open, but several rooms are currently offline which could increase wait times. Some surgeries are also being rescheduled.

Changes to PPE Donning and Doffing for Care of COVID Patients

11/4/2020
Author: Provider Outreach

Most staff caring for COVID-19 patients are proficient at Donning and Doffing PPE for both Airborne and Droplet Contact Isolation. Beginning November 4, experienced staff members exiting a room housing a patient with COVID-19 are no longer required to have a trained observer or PPE Partner while doffing their PPE.

To maintain proficiency in the organization, in clinical areas where COVID-19 patients are located, new caregivers are required to have a PPE partner or trained observer until proficiency has been demonstrated.

Please know that in clinical areas where COVID-19 patients are not receiving care, there may be individuals with limited experience who request a PPE partner: Every effort should be made to assist them. Contact the Charge RN if no one is available.
