On April 22 we had a pipe elbow failure in our Emergency Department (ED) causing a significant water leak. Crews are assessing the impact and we are in the process of water abatement. Our ED is open, but several rooms are currently offline which could increase wait times. Some surgeries are also being rescheduled.
LGBTQ+ Resources for Providers to Share With Patients
Mickey Kander, PA-C, MSW, MPH, Fairwood Primary Care, gave a presentation on March 24, during LGBTQ Health Awareness Week to help VMC caregivers answer questions about available community resources for LGBTQ+ patients at Valley Medical Center. If you’ve ever sent an email to a colleague seeking help for an LGBTQ patient – this talk is for you. Topics include:
• Social interaction (groups – including intersectional populations)
• Condition specific support (gender affirming care, mental health, substance use, aging)
• Support for families of LGBTQ community members
