The Desimone Levee on the Green River failed and is under repair. The hospital is above the flood zone and currently in no danger of flooding. We evacuated our Time Square and Kent Station Clinics and our Lind Avenue locations. Several locations are experiencing staffing issues due to severe traffic impacts. Impacted patients are being contacted to reschedule appointments. Please be safe, do not drive or walk through standing water, and call 9-1-1 if you need emergency evacuation assistance.

Wayfinding and Maps for Valley

8/8/2024

If you spend any time on Valley's main campus in Renton, you'll know it's not an uncommon sight to see a patient or family member wandering around and looking lost. Valley's Wayfinding Taskforce, an interdepartmental group of leaders and other stakeholders, has been meeting regularly throughout 2024 to work on finding ways to make lost patients a much less common occurrence.

One important step: Making sure our campus maps are up to date and easily accessible for our patients, visitors, and staff.

We invite you to check out (and bookmark!) our Maps & Wayfinding website at the easy-to-remember URL valleymed.org/maps.

In addition to updated versions of our VMC Campus Map, maps for each hospital floor, and other hospital and campus maps, we recently developed several maps specific for the other buildings on campus:

The goal is to set patients up for success before they arrive on campus for an appointment by directing them to the best place to park, the building where their appointment is located, and the clinic or department suite number. If you're not sure where a particular clinic or provider is located, we also recommend using the Find a Location and Find a Provider tools on Valley's website.

If you have printed maps in your department or clinic, please regularly check to make sure they are up to date by making sure they match the versions that are listed on the maps website. Our rounding has found outdated maps that go back as far as 2018! Please use the wayfinding resources on valleymed.org as the source of truth that you use and share with patients, and don't depend on Google or other search engines to always have the most current information.

We encourage you to continue to help out lost patients when you are able; knowing how to access the maps page on a personal phone is a great step to get our wandering visitors to their intended destinations. Thank you for taking part in this team effort to improve patient experience by helping them navigate our campus!
