On April 22 we had a pipe elbow failure in our Emergency Department (ED) causing a significant water leak. Crews are working hard to repair damage as quickly as possible. Our ED is open, but several rooms are currently offline, which can increase wait times. Apologies for any inconvenience you may experience.

Changes to Critical Lab Results Process in Latest Epic Upgrade

5/19/2026

The Critical Results Workflow is being updated for patients with an active visit (ED and OR) or admission. This workflow went live with the new Epic upgrade on May 16.

Instead of a call to the Nurse, Providers will be sent a Critical Results Notification to acknowledge in Epic or Haiku.

If Providers do not acknowledge the result within 10 minutes, lab staff will see the result in the work queue and revert to the previous workflow of making a call to clinical staff.

Nurses will also see a notification in Epic and/or Rover for critical results, but will not be able to acknowledge. If the Provider acknowledges the result, the notification will clear for the assigned nurse. Nurses will continue to see the result on the Brain and Lab Overview.

Providers and nurses will still be able to review all Critical Results in the Results Review chart activity.
