Congratulations to Chantel Turner, PA-C in the ENT Clinic, for winning the We Are Valley Award in the Clinicians category in Q2 of 2026. Here is what her nominations say:
Provider Turner does not hesitate to help her peers and patients. Recently two of our surgeons got pulled off the clinic floor for emergency surgery. We had several patients that were already check- in for their visit. Provider Turner took initiative and provided care for those patients even though they were not her established patients.
She went above and beyond with getting answers for a patient, she is always helping by answering our questions about patients'. Working in baskets to help the other providers. we are truly blessed to have her on our team.
Chantel is a vital member in our clinic. She helps our clinic with in-basket making sure patients get adequate care in a timely manner and assists our providers in clinic. She is able to adapt when assistance is needed and keeps the clinic running smoothly.
Not only is Chantel an efficient and caring provider to our patients but also, has great communication with the team. Chantel exhibits genuine care for our patients and members of the clinic. I'm glad to work with her. Also, she is an amazing baker! :)

Dr. Sultan-Quarrie Publishes Valley's First Stroke Research Study
Congratulations to Ali Sultan-Quarrie, MD, and Valley’s Clinical Research team on their participation in the THUNDER clinical trial evaluating Penumbra’s Thunderbolt™ technology for treating acute ischemic stroke. Valley enrolled seven patients in the study—our first stroke research study—which evaluated a computer-assisted vacuum thrombectomy system designed to remove blood clots and restore blood flow to the brain. The multicenter study included 216 patients at 29 U.S. centers and achieved successful reperfusion in 87.5% of cases.
The research helped support FDA clearance of Thunderbolt in June, allowing the technology to be used in acute ischemic stroke care. Dr. Sultan-Quarrie will also be recognized as an investigator in the study’s publication. Congratulations to Dr. Sultan-Quarrie and our Clinical Research team for helping bring Valley patients access to emerging stroke treatments while contributing to research that can advance care for patients nationwide.

Jon Neher, MD, Highlights The Power of Primary Care in Editorial
Congratulations to Jon Neher, MD, a Valley Family Medicine physician and Editor-in-Chief of Evidence-Based Practice, on the publication of a new joint editorial, “The Power of Primary Care to Improve Health.” Dr. Neher joined six other editors from leading U.S. family medicine journals to highlight the essential role primary care plays in improving individual and population health.
The editorial, published simultaneously across several family medicine journals, brings together evidence on the impact of primary care and explores the challenges facing the field. We’re proud to see Dr. Neher representing Evidence-Based Practice and contributing his expertise to this important national conversation.
Drs. Vossler and Raghavan Advance the Conversation on Status Epilepticus Treatment
Kudos to Meghana Raghavan, MD, and David Vossler, MD, on their contribution to a newly published critical review of the treatment of refractory status epilepticus, published in Current Treatment Options in Neurology. The review examines current approaches to this complex neurologic emergency, with a particular focus on the use of continuous infusions of anesthetizing antiseizure medications.
Dr. Vossler specifically recognized Dr. Raghavan for her excellent work editing and rewriting the manuscript and its revision. The publication reflects her thoughtful contribution to advancing the discussion around evidence-based treatment of status epilepticus.
Valley Research Team Contributes to Promising Epilepsy Study
David Vossler, MD, is also highlighted alongside the Valley Research team in the publication of results from a phase 1 study of carisbamate for the treatment of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) in Epilepsy Research. The study evaluated the pharmacokinetics, safety and tolerability of carisbamate in children, adolescents and adults with LGS, a severe and often treatment-resistant form of epilepsy. The findings supported further investigation of carisbamate and helped inform dosing for an ongoing phase 3 clinical trial.
Dr. Vossler gives special thanks to Shannon Huffaker, who served as the study nurse, and Dione Froman, the study coordinator from Valley’s Research Department. Their work helped make Valley’s participation in this important clinical research possible. Dr. Vossler is a co-author of the published study and contributed as an investigator as well as to the manuscript’s development.
