    Biography

    Michael Burke, MD, FACS received his medical degree from Creighton University. His General Surgery training was completed at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Northwestern University Affiliated Hospitals in Chicago. He is a Board Certified surgeon and a Fellow of American College of Surgeons. He is a member of Seattle Surgical Society and American College of Phlebology. Dr. Burke has practiced at Valley Medical Center since 1984 and served numerous terms as Chief of Surgery at VMC. He has a special interest in laparoscopic surgery and is proficient with the da Vinci robot. In 2010, Seattle Metropolitan Magazine named Dr. Burke a Top Doc.

    Dr. Burke is from a large Seattle family. His wife Kim and his three children enjoy tennis, golf, skiing, and fishing. Dr. Burke ran the Alaskan Iditarod trail in 2004-2005.

    Biography

    Omar Dorzi, MD, is the medical director of the Vascular Surgery Program at Valley, and is a board-certified General and Vascular Surgeon with a specialty in endovascular surgery. He focuses on carotid, aortic, and peripheral intervention. Dr. Dorzi has held research positions in carotid plaque, infrapopliteal artery intervention, and endovascular aortic aneurysm repair.

    He received his medical degree from University of Jordan Faculty of Medicine and graduated with honors in 1999. After completing a research position in Endovascular Surgery at UCLA, and then General Surgery Residencies at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore and University of Illinois Metro Group Hospitals in Chicago, Dr. Dorzi completed his Peripheral Vascular Fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center, in Illinois in 2008.

    Dr. Dorzi has also earned numerous awards and certificates including: American Board of Vascular Surgery Certification in 2009; American Board of Surgery Certification in 2006; Highest Grade In-service Annual General Surgery Exam 2001, 2003; and the Highest Grade in the National Exam in Palestine and Jordan in 1993.

    Dr. Dorzi focuses on providing the safest and best medical care possible through a team approach that includes himself, the patient, and their primary care physician or provider. Dr. Dorzi enjoys spending time with his wife and two girls, hiking, biking, and playing tennis.

    Biography

    Donald Harris, MD, is particularly interested in aortic aneurysm repair, limb preservation for peripheral arterial disease, cerebrovascular disease, and venous disease. He recognizes that each patient’s vascular disease and needs are unique and complex, and is dedicated to providing advanced, personalized vascular care for his patients.

    Dr. Harris was raised in the upper Midwest. He skied and studied biochemistry at St. John’s University, and went to medical school at University of Minnesota. He completed general surgery residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, which included a cardiovascular research fellowship that resulted in several publications and national presentations on vascular disease. After, he went to University of Wisconsin for a comprehensive clinical fellowship in vascular surgery. Dr. Harris enjoys spending time with his young children, watching movies, skiing, and cycling.

    Biography

    Dr. Carlos A. Camal Sanchez completed his Doctor in Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle. He graduated with a high achievement recognition during the 141st UW Commencement procession. He is board certified as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) in Adult-Gerontology. He is a Teaching Associate in the Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, at the UW School of Medicine.

    He has extensive interdisciplinary work and clinical experience, primarily as a registered nurse in the Medical, Coronary, and Surgical ICU at Harborview Medical Center. During his graduate education program at the UW School of Nursing, he was selected for the mentorship-training program in the Medical and Surgical ICU at the UW Medical Center (UWMC). In addition to the nurse practitioner graduate program, he further received training in the diagnosis and management advanced heart failure.

    Dr. Camal completed his Postdoctoral Cardiovascular Fellowship Program at the UWMC. He is the first-ever ARNP in the Cardiovascular ARNP training program, where he obtained clinical experience in depth across eleven subspecialties. Inspired by many dedicated ARNPs and surgeons, and grateful to the Vascular Surgery team who embraced him through his training and education, he has successfully launched his Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner career.

    Patient Care Philosophy
    As a Vascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner, his professional goal is to provide the best collaborative care, and therefore achieve consistently positive experiences, for patients and their families.

    Teaching, Research, and Clinical Interests
    He was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor for the UW School of Nursing. This appointment, together with his current position as teaching associate for the School of Medicine at the University of Washington, will allow him to continue the tradition of teaching future leaders and clinicians. He has first-authored one publication and looks forward to further dissemination of his work in peer-reviewed journals. He will continue to participate in research, and quality improvement projects through interdisciplinary teams, and to promote, and improve patients’ health. His clinical interest is vascular disorders and management.

    Biography

    Ryan Schickerling, PA-C, has an interest in the surgical treatment of diseases involving the peripheral arteries and veins. Ryan has spent the majority of his practice in the operating room treating patients with cardiac, thoracic, and vascular diseases. This initial exposure to a wide array of diseases brought him to the realization that he was most fascinated with treating patients with peripheral vascular diseases.

    Originally from Illinois, Ryan grew up in Naperville, a suburb 30 minutes west of Chicago. He received his undergraduate degree from University of Iowa, where he initially found his passion for medicine while working on the burn and trauma unit at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. He returned back to Illinois to attend physician assistant school at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and received his master's degree.

    Ryan’s passion for the outdoors brought his attention to the state of Washington in search for a more outdoor-centered lifestyle. While not working with the vascular surgery team at Valley Medical Center, he enjoys mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, and playing guitar.
