Matthew Nordin, LICSW, is a trauma-informed psychotherapist who believes in partnering with clients to choose the best course of care. Matt has extensive training in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) from the University of Washington, allowing him to offer clients tools to counter unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviors. While in grad school at Washington University in St. Louis, Matt trained in psychodynamic therapy, which is a form of talk therapy that helps a client understand how their current emotional pain may be connected to people and events in childhood and adolescence. In addition, Matt frequently utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy with clients who have experienced traumatic events, which can include everything from surviving a natural disaster or car crash to experiencing relationship trauma.
Matt has extensive experience – and thoroughly enjoys – working with immigrants, BIPOC clients, the LGBTQ+ community, and anyone who has experienced being marginalized or "othered."
After graduating from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis in May 2018, Matt purposefully chose to live and work in the Pacific Northwest because he believes it's just about the most beautiful place on Earth. He and his husband love traveling throughout the West Coast, from California to British Columbia, with their cavalier King Charles spaniel, Harry.
