Shamim Nejad, MD, FASAM, FACLP, serves as the Medical Director for the Addiction Medicine Consultation and Psychiatry Consultation services. He is board-certified in addiction medicine, behavioral neurology & neuropsychiatry, brain injury medicine, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and psychiatry. His clinical interests and expertise revolve around the provision of care for patients with complex medical and surgical illness involving co-occurring neuropsychiatric and substance use disorders.
Dr. Nejad has been active in teaching internal medicine, surgery, and psychiatry trainees, and has received numerous awards for his teaching and care of patients by hospital staff. Through his work in clinical care, research, and education, Dr. Nejad has sought to improve the care of patients at the interface of medicine, SUDs, and psychiatry. Dr. Nejad is married, with two children. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, reading, and traveling.
