Getting Here & Checking In
Arriving for your delivery is designed to be straightforward and welcoming.

  • Free on-campus parking in Garage G (under the Emergency Department)
  • Walk through the second floor to reach the Birth Center
  • After hours (weekends and after 5 PM): enter through the Emergency Department
  • Please remember to pre-register by calling hospital registration any time after 28 weeks

OB Emergency Department (OB-ED)
Your first stop for evaluation and support.

  • Examined by OB nurses and an OB hospitalist
  • OB hospitalists are board-certified obstetricians available 24/7
  • They provide labor evaluations, emergency care support, and coordination with your provider

Labor & Delivery Rooms
Private, safe, and supportive spaces for birth.

  • Central fetal monitoring for continuous observation
  • Telemetry monitoring to allow movement and walking
  • Encouragement of frequent position changes
  • Peanut balls available for labor support
  • Staff trained in position changes and supporting unmedicated births

We strive to match staffing assignments with your birth preferences whenever possible.

Pain Management Options
Comfort options to support your labor experience and birth plan.

  • Whirlpool bathtubs for water therapy
  • Nitrous oxide
  • IV pain medication
  • Epidurals
 

After Birth & Newborn Safety
Supporting bonding from the very first moments.

  • Immediate skin-to-skin contact whenever possible
  • Helps regulate baby’s:
    • Temperature
    • Breathing
    • Breastfeeding initiation
  • Infant security system used until discharge

Operating Rooms
Safe, coordinated care for planned or unplanned C-sections.

  • Two dedicated operating rooms within the Birth Center
  • OB hospitalist available for emergencies
  • Skin-to-skin once baby is stable
  • NICU team accessible through OR pass-through window
  • Ability to support certain high-risk vaginal deliveries in the OR

Level II NICU
Advanced care when your baby needs extra support.

  • Specialized monitoring and treatment for sick or premature infants
  • Neonatal specialists available around the clock
  • Advanced technology and experienced staff
  • Transfer available if higher-level specialty care is needed

Family-Centered Postpartum Care
Designed for bonding, rest, and recovery.

  • Private postpartum room for parents and baby
  • Newborn monitors connect to the nurse’s phone for continuous awareness
  • Couch converts into a bed
  • Reclining rocking chair
  • In-room refrigerator for breast milk storage
  • Room service meals provided for mom
  • Meal vouchers available for support persons

Getting ready to take your baby home

To prepare for discharge, please have an available car seat and your government-issued ID for birth certificate paperwork and select a pediatrician for your baby's care after you leave the hospital.
