  • Strangulated/incarcerated abdominal wall hernias
  • Diverticular disease
  • Perforated viscus
  • Ischemic bowel
  • Acute complications of peptic ulcer disease
  • Complex soft tissue infections
  • Spontaneous/iatrogenic pneumothorax
  • Empyema
  • Acute infections of tunneled catheters/ports
  • Surgical feeding access

How do I consult the Acute Care Surgical Service?

If a consultation is requested on a patient, please place an Epic order for Acute Care Surgical Hospitalist Consult. Our daily call schedule is available on Amion.com. If a resident is listed for that day on Amion, please page him/her first through the hospital operator for new consults. If no resident is listed during the day shift, please send a group text to the surgeon and advanced care practitioner (ACP) on Voalte, so the first available team member can see the consult. Consults requested during the night shift (7 PM-7 AM), can be paged out through the operator or sent as a text via Voalte.
