Updates on Valley AI Initiatives for Clinicians
Our six-month Ambient Listening pilot launched on April 28 with 100 clinic physicians and APPs. The solution includes AI-powered note generation, patient instructions, a billing code assistant, and a chart chat assistant designed to reduce documentation burden and improve provider efficiency. The need for this technology was clear from our pre-pilot survey, where 62% of providers reported feeling overwhelmed by documentation workflows and 52% expressed dissatisfaction with their work-life balance.
Early feedback from pilot participants has been overwhelmingly positive. Providers report saving up to 30 minutes to 2 hours each day on documentation, creating more time for patient care and reducing after-hours charting. Many have noted improved note quality and accuracy, less mental fatigue, and a renewed ability to focus on patients during visits rather than typing. Several providers have shared that they are now able to leave work on time and spend more time with family, while others have reported reduced physical strain from long hours of charting. One provider summed it up best: “Clinic is fun again.”
A mid-pilot survey is currently underway, and Ambience representatives will be onsite August 3-4 to meet with pilot providers, review pilot outcomes, and discuss future product development.

On the hospital side, we launched a Draft Hospital Course pilot with a pilot group of Hospitalists on March 3rd. Following positive feedback, the tool was expanded to all Hospitalists on April 14th. The Draft Hospital Course automatically brings together information from clinical notes, the Problem List, patient demographics, and code events to create a comprehensive draft summary, helping physicians efficiently capture a patient's hospitalization story.
Like our other clinical AI initiatives, the goals are to reduce documentation burden, lower mental fatigue, decrease clinician burnout, and improve note quality. According to Dr. Travis D'Souza, one of our Informatics Physician Builders, the Draft Hospital Course has been widely adopted by the Hospitalist team and is already proving to be a valuable part of their workflow.
