Garland Castañeda, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician. He specializes in treating hospitalized patients with acute care needs. This includes a wide range of conditions including congestive heart failure, pneumonia, diabetes and strokes. He has a particular interest in gastrointestinal disease and has published a few journal articles in this area.
Dr. Castañeda grew up in Modesto, California before attending Princeton University and getting his medical degree from University of Colorado – Denver. He completed his residency at Highland Hospital in Oakland, CA where he served a socioeconomically diverse patient population. Following residency he worked at the nearby Alameda Hospital including during the COVID-19 pandemic. When he is not working at the hospital he can usually be found working on his small business, a horse boarding farm.
