Apple Health Expansion for Immigrants

You may be eligible if space is available to sign up for Apple Health Expansion if you live in the state of Washington, even if you immigrated to the United States and/or are undocumented. This insurance includes medical, dental, and behavioral health services.

Only one application needs to be submitted. If you have applied for Apple Health Expansion on or after June 20, 2024, and were denied because the enrollment cap was met, there are no additional steps to take. There is a possibility you may be randomly selected to enroll if space opens in the program. If selected for enrollment, you will receive an eligibility notice through your preferred communication method (email or mail).

What is Apple Health Expansion?

This is a new program to help with healthcare expenses for adults who do not have insurance and do not meet immigration requirements for other Apple Health programs. Apple Health Expansion coverage is free; there are no out-of-pocket costs or copays. This insurance will cover, with some limitations, primary care, emergency visits, maternity services, pediatric care, dental services, vision care, prescription medications and more. Who is eligible?

You may be eligible if space is available for Apple Health Expansion coverage if you:

• Are a Washington state resident age 19 or older.
• Have a countable income under 138% of the federal poverty level.*
• Do not qualify for other Apple Health programs based on immigration status.
• Are not pregnant or did not have a pregnancy end in the last 12 months.
• Are not currently eligible for qualified health plans (QHP) with advance premium tax credits (APTC), or federally funded medical assistance programs.

*Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) is based on 138 percent of the Federal Poverty Level by monthly income and household size. Effective April 1, 2025 and updated annually.

What documents do I need to complete an application?

• Proof of identity in the form of a driver’s license, passport, or other official documentation. 
• Immigration documentation that shows your status (visa, passport, etc.). No immigration documentation is needed if you are undocumented. 
• The income you make before taxes. If you work, this could be wage stubs, pay receipts, or other ways that show how much money you make.

What are my other options for health coverage?

Which Apple Health Expansion plans include Valley Medical Center in-network?

Valley Medical Center is in network with these plans, with some exceptions. Ask the managed care program about your coverage for services through Valley Medical Center.
