Valley is impacted by a nationwide shortage of IV fluids as a result of Hurricane Helene. We are watching the situation closely and working hard to conserve available supplies, but because of the shortage, we may need to reschedule non-emergency surgeries or change some of our hospital procedures. We are committed to continuing to give all patients the highest quality of care. We appreciate your understanding and hope to be back to normal operations soon.

Transforming Medicine to End Chronic Disease

Lifestyle Medicine is an evidence-based approach to preventing, treating and even reversing disease by replacing unhealthy behaviors with positive ones—such as eating healthy, being physically active, managing stress, avoiding risky substance abuse, getting adequate sleep and having a strong support system.

lifestyle-medicine-services-header2.jpgValley's Lifestyle Medicine provides the tools needed to navigate changes in routine and identify ways in which we can improve health. Now is the time to seek the skills to make lasting healthy behavior changes. Healthy lifestyle choices even boost your immune system. Telehealth and in-person services in three locations (Renton, Maple Valley and Covington) include occupational and physical therapy, nutrition and diabetes counseling, prescribed exercise programs, virtual group classes and virtual well coaching and massage.

Physical therapists usually begin with a conversation about health factors you can change, such as sleep, stress, diet and exercise. A consult includes a Health Risk Assessment and a more in-depth screening about your personal health risk factors, including injury history and a screening of your movement. Our ultimate goal is to give our patients the support they need to begin making healthier lifestyle choices, and to provide the tools to maintain changes over time.

Medical Nutrition Therapy is an evidence-based approach to address healthy eating, stress, quality of sleep, activity, relationships and how they impact behaviors related to food. By partnering with a registered dietitian, you can tailor a practical plan that works within your lifestyle given today’s challenges.

Our exercise programs are delivered both virtually and in person. Lifestyle365 members will receive updated individualized programs. Lifestyle365 members have access to daily workouts, virtual group classes entertaining challenges offering practical ways to continue working toward your health goals without the need of facility access. In addition, we offer telehealth style sessions with your Exercise Specialist who will help you design a home-based program using items you probably already have.

Ready to make a change for your health, but not sure where to start?

In King County, heart disease is one of the leading causes of death. There are 30,000 type 2 diabetes diagnoses in South King County each year and nearly half of all adults in South King County have been diagnosed with hypertension. The statistics are sobering. But there’s hope! Many of the contributing factors to these chronic conditions and others can be reduced or prevented through lifestyle changes. Even small changes can make a BIG difference! And we’re here to help.

As a healthcare organization, we believe that caring for our community like family starts with prevention. Our Lifestyle Medicine clinics provide our community the opportunity to engage in healthy lifestyle behaviors that reduce the risk of chronic disease and promote a high quality of life.

Physical therapists (PTs) are medical professionals dedicated to helping people reach their health, wellness and fitness goals through physical movement. A physical therapist’s work often starts by introducing safe movement and exercise programs that focus on reducing pain and improving muscle strength, joint range of motion, and overall endurance. PTs also help people gain skills to improve overall health to prevent or reduce future healthcare costs. Therapists work one-on-one with patients and are part of a patient’s medical team. Sometimes they will partner with a patient’s healthcare provider, especially when regaining skills lost to disease or disability.
